What this is

KC Wellness Directory is a free online directory of alternative health practitioners in the Kansas City area. It's built and curated by Dr. Ladd Carlston, DC. By using the site, you agree to the terms below. If you don't agree, no hard feelings — please don't use the site.

We are not a healthcare provider

This site is a directory and a library of educational articles. Nothing on this site is medical advice, a diagnosis, or a treatment recommendation. If you have a health concern, go see an actual provider — ideally one you found through this directory, but we're not picky.

Reading an article here does not create a patient-provider relationship with Dr. Ladd Carlston, his practice, or any other practitioner listed on the site.

For practitioners: the listing deal

• Free for your first year — an introductory offer. Listings in Kansas City are free for the first year while the directory is being built out. No credit card to claim one, and no trial-to-paid trickery: we will never take a payment you did not knowingly set up. Because it is an introductory offer rather than a permanent one, listings may carry a fee after that first year. If they ever do, we'll tell you well before it applies to you and you can opt out.
• Featured listings are optional and paid. A featured listing is an upgrade on top of a listing you already have: top placement on your category page, a slot on the homepage, your full profile, and monthly view numbers on your dashboard. It is billed monthly through Stripe, you can cancel from your dashboard at any time, and your placement runs to the end of the period you have already paid for. It is never required to be listed, and a free listing is not throttled, hidden or removed for not buying one. We don't guarantee any number of patients, enquiries or search rankings.
• You own your listing info. You're responsible for making sure your listing is accurate — name, license, address, phone, website, specialties, bio. If something changes, update it. If something's wrong, that's on you, not us.
• Keep it professional. Don't put anything in your listing you wouldn't want a patient to read. No false credentials, no illegal services, no making stuff up about competitors.
• We can remove listings. If a listing violates professional standards, applicable law, or the spirit of "be a decent practitioner," we may remove it. We'll generally reach out first and try to work it out, but we don't have to.
• No guarantees. We can't promise you a specific number of patients, a specific search ranking, or any particular outcome. We're a directory, not a marketing agency.

For patients: how to use this

• Use the directory to find practitioners. Contact them directly.
• Every listed practitioner was reviewed by Dr. Carlston, but we can't personally vouch for every provider's every outcome. Do your own due diligence: check licenses, read reviews, have a conversation, trust your gut.
• The Learning Center articles are educational. Read them to get oriented, not to self-diagnose.

Don't do these things

• Don't scrape the site or hammer it with automated traffic.
• Don't try to break in, exploit bugs, or impersonate another practitioner.
• Don't use the site to harass anyone — patients, practitioners, or us.
• Don't submit fake listings or pretend to be a practitioner you aren't.

Accounts and access

Keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for what happens under your account. If you think your account's been compromised, email us and we'll reset it.

We can suspend or close accounts if the terms get violated, or if an account is abandoned for a really long time.

Third-party links

Listings link out to practitioners' own websites. We don't run those sites and can't take responsibility for them. If a link is dead or wrong, email us.

Limitation of liability

The site is provided as is. To the fullest extent allowed by law, KC Wellness Directory and Dr. Ladd Carlston aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site. Our total liability for any claim related to the site is capped at what you've paid us — which, for most people, is zero dollars.

Nothing here limits liability that can't legally be limited.

Indemnification

If someone sues us because of something you did on the site — submitting a bogus listing, misusing the platform, something along those lines — you agree to cover the resulting costs.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Kansas. Any disputes go to the courts in Johnson County, Kansas. (We sincerely hope we never meet in a courtroom.)

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site grows. We'll change the date at the top, and for material changes we'll email registered practitioners. If you keep using the site after a change, that's considered agreement to the new terms.
